On Vyborg highway, the first Finnish bakery and confectionery Fazer opened in the city. The Cafes & Shops menu has over 20 types of yeast-free bread - with figs, walnuts, cheese and olives and other additives, as well as sandwiches, cakes, pastries, bread rolls, biscuits, crackers and drinks. Fazer in two years plans to open ten institutions in St. Petersburg and the same in Moscow.
A loaf of Fazer bread will cost an average of 200 rubles, but you can buy half and a quarter. Baking and desserts cost about 100 rubles apiece. Bread is brought to the store by 9am, and from 9pm there is a 50% discount on all products.
In 2011, Fazer bought the Swedish Gateau confectionery and is now planning to develop similar-format establishments around the world under its own brand. Gateau baked bread in a brick oven, and the dough was made not from yeast, but from a special yeast (which Fazer now imported from Sweden) and was always kneaded manually.
